Late last week we revealed that we will be launching our data Marketplace at Consensus 2018, a major conference for blockchain projects. We were hoping we could wait before making it official, because we wanted to tell the world about one more thing. Early Friday morning, the organisers confirmed that one month from now, at 10:10am on 16 May, Streamr will be given the main stage to launch our data Marketplace and reveal our plans with our partners during a panel discussion. So save the date and get ready to tune in to the live-cast.
This is a really big step for a project that only finished its crowdfunding six months ago. But if you’d like more details about what this means for Streamr, then let us explain what Consensus 2018 is, why it’s important, and what we hope to get out of it.

When and where?
The conference will be held between May 14th-16th 2018 at the Hilton Manhattan Midtown in New York City, United States. The conference itself is the highlight of “Blockchain week”, which is being run in conjunction with the New York Economic Development Corporation.
What is the event about?
Consensus 2018 is one of the world’s premier blockchain technology summits. Now in its fourth year, 2018 promises to be the biggest and best yet, with over 250 speakers and an estimated 4,000+ attendees. This includes movers and shakers from leading industry startups, enterprise tech leaders, investors and some of academia’s greatest blockchain thinkers.
What are Streamr’s goals at Consensus?
- To garner visibility and increase our project profile when we launch our Marketplace
- To promote our technology (with a focus on the Marketplace) and our wider vision
- To make contacts with other projects, both in and out of the crypto space, and with new potential partners
- To connect with our US followers and expand the community presence in North America
Will Streamr be lost among the crowd?
We’ve planned heavily for this event to ensure we make our presence felt. Our huge 2,000 sq ft (185m2) pavillion space at the conference will bring together all our key messages under one roof. We have the space for the entire conference duration. You can find the event layout by following this link Pavilion — Sutton North. We are on the same sponsorship level as IBM, Microsoft and Ripple 😉
Accept & Proceed, who also do design work for Nike (neat right?), are helping with the conference build, data visualisation and pavilion design. We expect our pavilion to pack a punch with interactive demos, explainers, a cafe, and dedicated meeting spaces. And robots …
The cherry on the cake? The announcement of our Fortune 500 partners. So stay tuned for more information in the coming weeks!
